Dr. Yasser Awaad

Dr. Yasser Awaad leverages an extensive background in medical research and neurological care when instructing students at Ain-Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, where he serves as visiting professor, and developing academic programs as consultant with a Michigan-based healthcare system. In preparation for his career, he studied at Al-Azhar University Medical School, earning his MD. Later, Dr. Yasser Awaad completed his residency in pediatrics and his fellowship in child neurology at New York University Medical Center.

Since finishing his education, Dr. Awaad has remained actively engaged with the academic world. He has taught as a professor at many institutions, including the Wayne State University School of Medicine and the University of Michigan Pediatrics Department. For several years, he worked for the Neurosciences Institute at King Fahad Medical City, where he was the founding chairman of a first-of-its-kind pediatric neurology program in Saudi Arabia.

In recognition of his service, Dr. Yasser Awaad has earned such honors as the National Leadership Award, presented by President George W. Bush in 2006.
